CNBC EXCLUSIVE: PETER THIEL DISCUSSES "20 UNDER TWENTY"

Silicon Valley investor and visionary Peter Thiel appeared yesterday on "Closing Bell" to discuss why he called on technology companies to drop the college degree as a job requirement. He also discussed his fellowship program "20 Under Twenty," a global competition to find the brightest young tech entrepreneurs.

"20 Under Twenty" will give twenty innovative young people, chosen by the Thiel Foundation, a $100,000 fellowship to start building the business of their dreams. They will be mentored by some of Silicon Valley's most esteemed innovators, but will not attend college for two years so they can focus on their entrepreneurial vision.

CNBC: WHERE TRADERS TUNE IN EVERY MORNING FOR THE LATEST EUROPEAN NEWS

The New York Times reports that an increasing number of traders are waking up in the wee hours every morning to stay on top of the financial news coming out of Europe, and that CNBC is a valuable resource that they tune into immediately.

"That’s why Craig Gorman, a partner at First New York Securities, routinely monitors his trading positions in the middle of the night. He turns on CNBC and fires up the Bloomberg terminal with six screens at the foot of his bed. “With the TV and all my monitors on, it gets a little bright in there,” he said. “My wife is not thrilled about it.” "

Surprisingly, there is also a significant increase in stock price at the precise time that a company is mentioned on CNBC following a negative news event.”
