WHAT'S NEXT FOR SQUAWK BOX?

Joe Kernen, Becky Quick and Carl Quintanilla made Squawk Box must-watch television thanks to their chemistry, creativity and, above all, content expertise. Every morning, Squawk distills oceans of information on global markets, companies and politics so that the nation's most affluent and influential viewers can start their day smarter.

Replacing Carl on Squawk Box is no easy task, but CNBC is thrilled to announce that Andrew Ross Sorkin is joining the CNBC team to co-host Squawk Box every morning with Joe and Becky. As a CNBC contributor, Andrew has long been an extended member of both the CNBC and Squawk families, and we’re pleased he will now be a part of our morning team. Squawk Box is #1 in composition of opinion leaders who are professionally involved/have involvement in economic or fiscal policy (2010 Erdos & Morgan Opinion Leaders Study).

CNBC ANNOUNCES ITS NEW SQUAWK ON THE STREET LINEUP

In the world of business news, Squawk Box and Squawk on the Street are essential viewing for individual investors, hedge-fund managers, chief executives, small-business owners, politicians and policy makers. These programs routinely move markets with breaking news and penetrating interviews, using a mix of wisdom and wit to engage viewers.

That has been the driving force and spirit of Squawk Box since Mark Haines captained the original ship and guided the expansion of the Squawk franchise with the launch of Squawk on the Street more than five years ago.

With that spirit in mind, it’s time to introduce the next incarnation of Squawk.

CNBC is pleased to announce that Carl Quintanilla, Melissa Lee, Jim Cramer, Simon Hobbs and David Faber will now all contribute to Squawk on the Street weekday mornings.

Melissa and Carl will host from 9-11am, with Jim Cramer as a frequent contributor from 9-10am. Simon Hobbs, who has done a tremendous job on Squawk on the Street, will co-host the 10am hour every day with Melissa and Carl. David Faber will continue in his current role on Squawk on the Street with the “Faber Report.”

Melissa will continue to anchor Fast Money at 5pm, and Jim will keep hosting Mad Money w/Jim Cramer at 6pm.

Scott Wapner, who has done an excellent job with the Fast Money Halftime Report during this interim period, will host that program.

On CNBC’s “Squawk Box” this morning, Joe Kernen and Becky Quick spoke to the new anchors of “Squawk on the Street,” Melissa Lee and Carl Quintanilla, as well as contributors David Faber and Jim Cramer.  See the video here where the new cast is introduced (a 1:42 mark): http://bit.ly/phZuAB

PYEONGCHANG’S OLYMPICS PREPARATIONS PAY OFF

This week the International Olympic Committee awarded PyeongChang, South Korea with the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.

CNBC’s Darren Rovell reports that the city was well-prepared in their bid, as they have already completed building seven of the 13 required competition venues.

“The venues that are already built combined with those being built is nothing that its rivals Annecy, France and Munich, Germany, could have offered the IOC, which has seen its share of last minute venue preparations in recent games.”

See Darren’s report on PyeongChang’s win on the Sports Biz blog, which averages 3.88MM total monthly page views bit.ly/n2Akpo
